Potential and Challenges of Implementing Zakat on Freshwater Pond Aquaculture Income: A Sharia Economics Perspective

Abstract

     This research examines the potential and obstacles of implementing zakat on freshwater aquaculture earnings from an Islamic economic viewpoint. Findings indicate that zakat on fishery products can enhance the productivity of fish farmers, alleviate social disparities, and foster sustainable economic development. The primary challenges encountered are the absence of comprehensive regulations, inadequate law enforcement, and limited public awareness. This study proposes the formulation of more effective policies, heightened public awareness, and collaboration among the government, zakat institutions, and fisheries enterprises.
